Hi, I’m Jess, Director of the University of Birmingham Doctoral School - welcome to the Report + Support page for all Postgraduate researchers.
The wellbeing of all our PGR students is a top priority and we aim to ensure you all feel safe, comfortable and supported throughout your studies.
Report + Support is an online tool which PGR students can use to report issues of discrimination, bullying, domestic abuse, assault, hate crime, harassment, sexual violence/harassment or other inappropriate behaviour. If you make a report you will be contacted by a specially trained Responder who will provide a tailored service outlining the support and reporting options available. It is really important that you know that the Report + Support service at the University of Birmingham maintains the highest level of privacy with any report made. All information that you share will be kept private unless you specifically give your permission for others to be contacted (or there is an immediate risk to you or others). You can also report issues anonymously via this service. Report + Support is also home to information about internal and external support.
We want all of our Postgraduate researchers to feel supported enough to reach out when needing help, and empowered to report any behaviour that is upsetting, offensive or harmful and know that they will receive the highest level of support from us to resolve the issue. These specific PGR pages will give you information about the reporting processes as well as support resources. This platform is designed to provide a confidential and accessible way for all staff and students, including postgraduate researchers to raise concerns or formally submit complaints related to behaviour of others or any other aspect of your postgraduate journey.
As well as using the service yourself, if you see or know someone who may need support with their wellbeing please encourage them to reach out, or reach out on their behalf using the resources on these pages - we want to ensure all students know exactly where to access help if and when it is needed to ensure they get the correct support.
